Dance With Me All Night

I may groove by myself from a distance
I get a rise, when you hit the floor, for instance
Watch the way you gyrate your hips
I imagine close, like kiss lips
Trying to figure how I can be smooth
in my approach, sweet as a tooth
I take little steps into personal space
If we could just brush our clothing together, face
Touch and embrace in form of a hug
Hold you dear to me, as we cut a rug
Lost in the moment and perfume
Your sexiness and moves I presume

Of course, I’m on it, you back up that booty
Ain’t gonna hurt nobody, I’m not scared
Yeah, I’m gonna think what it is with us naked
Still in awe, I passed the stage of rejection
Now, you work on me, one hell of an erection
More you dip low, I wanna dip it low
Break a sweat, we grind fast and slow
A different rhythm means a new beat
I’m doing best, not to stomp your gorgeous feet
It becomes intense, we lock hands and fingers
to the fine tunes of rappers and singers
We go at it, song after song
I desire wee hours to last long

Might get frustrated, if we have to break
Don’t wanna disappear and you’re with another man
He didn’t discover you, a treasure in strobe lights
I wouldn’t stand to see you make his night
I fondle and twirl you, all around, tight
I’m not mad or much the jealous type
Not my girl, but you give me some kinda hype
Upon a time, it was called getting my freak on
After a party, I got mine is what I speak on
No numbers, at least I copped feels
Pretty women in dresses, leggings, jeans, or heels
Halter tops, sight for sore eyes, bodies slammin’
I’m jamming, wish inside of you, I’m jammin’
Nonstop, bounce up and down your breasts to legs
Baby, I only request a dance, don’t have me beg

I Dream of Dr. King II: National Nightmare

If the world ended, today
All we’re told, be humble and pray
Youth is expiring, in unrest they lay
Injustice wins, no penalties to pay
Racism still alive, but we shall overcome
From outcries of murder, do we run
Dr. King, how long does one remain silent
when your approach to this was nonviolent
Spyware on devices, Sprint, T-Mobile, Motorola
New technology, gone from Cancer, AIDS to Ebola
We search for fallen foreign planes of the sky
Same ones we teach terrorists how to fly
Give funds and rescue an overseas country
In mine, I’m treated and hunted as a bounty
Dr. King, if only you saw how they did Trayvon Martin
Left the Black community’s hearts hardened
The same happened in a Missouri town
Gunned down was teenager, Michael Brown
It’s called Ferguson of looting and purging
Many businesses to homes were burning
You said, riots are language of the unspoken
against a system not meant to protect us, broken
Can’t forget about Oscar Grant
Fruitvale Station, a New Year’s rant
When we think the madness can’t go no farther
‘I CAN’T BREATHE’, last words of Eric Garner
As a kid, I played with toy guns
but not for Tamir Rice to be shot in fun
Lord, what have we done
Keep being taken away, until we’re none

Invitation by members to join KKK
They must feel Blacks are stupid, no fucking way
Arson crosses as their grills
A barbecue, picnic (pick a nigger) for our kills
Before my time, but I won’t forget
Years, they hid behind sheets and pillow case sets
Think they did something, attending a NAACP meeting
while my skin color is dying with bleeding
Choked to death, put on gurney, like we’re breathing
Shoot us dead, cuff us, as if we’re leaving
The only power we have is vote and protests
When can we strap up in bullet proof vests
Bring crooked law makers and enforcers to test
Without a judge, grand jury, or an arrest
Be their equalizer, Black lives matter
even on camera…
The dream will not shatter
Uplift this stigma
Minorities are the latter
Solve the enigma
Racist chit-chatter
Black men used as target practice for the scare
Waking up to step out my door is a nightmare
To each other, we’re punk ass, bitch niggas
until one of us pull a trigger
If we come forward as witnesses
We disrespected the streets and are snitches
Not supposed to say Black on Black crime
in police brutality time
If so hard, draw your weapons at them
or suit up for war in Afghanistan
Some other nationalities recognize us
Our own women despise us
We’re thugs and abusers in prisons across nation
Harassing, drugging, and charged with rape allegations
Gay, unemployed, no nice guys
Bad partners to fathers without child support to buy
New bitches, broke, weak…we still get The Apology
It’s always said, look at history
Jim Crow, Willie Lynch, and Slavery
Then, maybe we’ll have unity
As people, we’ll never be equal
So much evil to be peaceful
A cruel society, I see
God Almighty, I am NOT free

Aunt Ree

I didn’t know where I was going
If it’s a state or residence
When I began to remember
All I wanted to do was go to Virginia
Dad, are we going to Virginia
My favorite family and so much fun
We do everything under the sun
It’ll start at Aunt Ree’s house
Celebrations, reunions, and cookouts
To this day, your home is always my hotel
As a child, I’ll run the little steps to a bowl of cereal
or to your good breakfast cooking smell
The Christmases I brought down my toys
to share with my first, favorite woman cousin, Joye
Yes, I was bad and bit her on the butt
You wanted to tear my hind pots up
Just leave it to my mother
because I was becoming a brother
Aunt Ree, you named my only sibling, Shante Marie
Trips we took to Florida’s Disney World
It was you, me, Meme, and Aunt Jerl
I have a bond with Robbin, you see
He taught me how to play Super Mario Bros. 3
Good ole days of entertainment and Nintendo in the den
I’m excited from different company walking in
It could be Aunt Frances, Skookie, Ivan, Fee, Kita, and Gwen
Aunt Margie, MC, Derrick, Boo-Boo, Sylvia, T, Jevon, Keke
Uncle Bob, Raynor, or of the family, a friend
I’m older and I can talk to you about life
How I wanted to settle down, have children… wife
Backfired, you said, I just wanna be treated right
Let me learn from mistakes, it’s my plight
These times has come to past
January 4, 2015, is when I saw you, last
We were happy to see each other for the New Year
Few days later, I break down and shed tears
Received call from cousin David, you passed away
I was like, look man, don’t play
He wasn’t, I packed a bag and came right away
I’m gonna miss your great warm spirit, jokes, and smile
Wash your hands, have you eaten anything, where’s little Al
Now, I’m saying what happened, where’s my favorite aunt
I know, as I haven’t seen him in a while
Say hello for me to Uncle Hunt

Balance... An Introductory Poem from Scales of a Libra's Affection

When you deposit feelings, what’s the balance
Accounts of love are always a challenge
To budget levels of trust in a special individual
Respect, communication to connection spiritual
Compatibility and chemistry for the cause
Press forward with happiness, without much pause
Attraction is quite twisted from its laws
Perfectly, we’re supposed to accept those of flaws
Realizing anytime, we can really get hurt
The mate for your soul, you don’t want to desert
Relationships can come with infidelity, rumors and lies
Reversed emotions, broken hearts to cries
Do we work it out, after many tries
Do we split contact and say our goodbyes
We’re left to get over the pain
Sometimes, all alone through snow and rain
Wasted years, you have ideas for a fresh start
Getting to know a new person is one hell of an art
This ache in a breast can’t be fixed by nurse or teacher
Whether or not, in the zodiac, you’re a firm believer
So much is in store for the sexy diva

Chapter 12: Running from Venus... An Excerpt from Scales of a Libra's Affection

“Yes! This is Ms. Jameson.”  I answered to an elderly woman’s request for me.

“Hi, there!  This is Mrs. Slade, the assistant principal at Payne Elementary.  We really dislike bothering our students’ parents, as we know they can be busy at work.  I must inform you, that your son, Marcus has been disruptive in class.  His teacher had to talk to him on more than one occasion."

I was definitely upset.  "Is he with you now, Mrs. Slade?"

"Yes, Marcus is here. Please, hold!"

"Hello!" Marcus sounded like, he was crying.

"Boy, what is the matter with you?!"

"I don't know, Mom."

"You don't know? Do I need to come up there and embarrass you in front of your classmates to find out?"

"No." Marcus was sniffling.

"When the teacher tells you to do something or is talking, you do it and pay attention. Do you understand me?"

"Yes."

"Let this be the last phone call I get."

"Ms. Jameson, I do have Mr. Simms on the line, just in case I couldn't reach you."

"Hey, Talora!"

"Hello, Drew!"

"Let me speak to him." Drew said.  Then, the line went completely silence.

I'm not sure, what was discussed between Drew and Marcus.  But, I didn't have any more problems from him, for the rest of the school year.  I don't know why he was misbehaving with only three months left, until the summer, before starting second grade.  When it seemed I had one of the vital men in my life on track, the other would fall off.  It couldn't be blamed all on the new technology.

Black Planet was one of the first social networking sites ever.  Then, came along Myspace, created by a guy named Tom.  A person can design own profile and make it look like a website.  I customized me a page to network, as I was now merging into modeling.  I made Drew one, which I had access to his account and could check it anytime I want.  That's when I found notes by various women, sent to him and this one in particular:

Candygirl84

Hey, baby!  You stay on my mind, all the time.  I want u every time, I see u.  You really don't know what you have done to me.  Are you gonna get rid of that other broad you're with, Terrain or whatever her name is?  I'm trying to wait and I don't know how long I can.  I have needs and must keep my kitty-cat satisfied.  Let me know, if you got what it takes to cum play with a real lady, Drew.  XOXO

That night, I printed the message from my computer; I tore it into as many big pieces as I could, and stuffed them into my purse.  I got dressed to head to club, Legend.  The VIP section, I already knew where Drew was, as he kept it reserved.  Soon as I entered, Drew had two heifers laid up on him.  One must have known who I was, which she quickly got off of him, as she saw me.  'Make It Rain' by Terror Squad rapper, Fat Joe featuring Lil' Wayne, must have been on my mind.  That's exactly what I did, throwing the trash in Drew's face from my pocketbook.

"Who are these bitches, you got, sending you love letters and shit on Myspace, behind my back?"

Drew took his arm from around the other chick. "Why you busting in here like this? What the fuck is the matter, Talo?"

"I'm sick of you lying.  I had seen what Candygirl84 wrote you."

"Candygirl84 is me and I advise you to back off, now." The broad, last to be on Drew, said.

"I advise you to shut the fuck up. You don't know who you're fucking with." That was my comeback.

Blows between me and her were thrown.  Little drink tables toppled over.  The sound of broken glass grew louder.  There was pulling of hair. I made sure; I had my pocketbook clutched close to me, just in case it was going to go down.  Then, I felt Drew yank me by my waist and someone else got a hold of Candygirl84.  Everyone was stunned to see me react the way I did.  Not, Dre's Talo?  It was definitely a rude awakening.  I done had it up to here.

"Get your goddamn hands off me!" I scratched Drew's hands as hard as I could.  He turned me a loose.  Afterward, I stormed out of Legend, with him to follow.

"Have you lost your mind?  That shit was uncalled for!" Drew scolded.

"Don't say nothing, you punk ass liar!  I'm tired of you embarrassing me, like this." Tears started to roll down my face.

"If you would let me just -"

"Give me the extra key to my place.  I don't wanna continue to see you."

"All right, since it's like that." Drew hurried to take it off his keychain and threw it to the ground, hitting my foot.

"Just like I thought you were gonna do."

I picked up the key and left Drew where he stood.  He didn't even attempt to come after me.  I was done and hurting so bad.  I felt it coming one day; I'll be fighting over a man. If these broads really want him, they can have him.
